Ivan is a petroleum engineer by degree (Texas Tech) with an MBA, and an entrepreneur by trade. He started Barrio Energy in Houston after a career at Chevron. Barrio buys industrial land near the Texas grid, brings power to it, and leases it to digital infrastructure, battery storage and industrial tenants. The first powered land project began in 2021; the portfolio now spans eight sites from West Texas to the Gulf Coast.
He works directly with landowners, utilities, county officials and tenants on every site, and questions from neighbors, officials and reporters reach him through info@barrioenergy.com.
His more important jobs are at home in Houston: division director for a volunteer youth sports league, a consul of his kids' school dads club, and volunteer assistant basketball coach. He lives there with his wife and three children, and enjoys teaching people about the benefits of AI and building projects with it.
Barrio is deliberately small. Instead of a back office, we run purpose-built software agents for accounting, legal review, tax, operations and market research. Each one proposes; a person decides. Nothing is filed, signed, sent or posted to the books without Ivan seeing it first. The agents below are the ones that do that work.
